This site grows out of my background as a nutritional consultant with more than 20 years of clinical and research experience. I've worked in a range of settings from a state-of-the-art allergy lab to a cutting edge anti-aging and nutritional consulting center. My private practice has served thousands of clients from elite athletes to people with diverse health problems.

This experience has given me the opportunity to see how people respond to various nutrients and to learn what works and what doesn't. Over the past two decades, I've become familiar with thousands of nutritional supplements, made by hundreds of manufacturers. I've been able to identify the manufacturers that offer the products of the highest quality. As a nutritional consultant, my experience has given me the opportunity to see directly how people respond to different nutrients and to learn what's most effective for a broad range of people.

My Professional Experience

. At the Foundation for Infant Survival , we participated in the one of the earliest anti-aging clinics. This project also performed one of the very first critical evaluations of strategies for extending the human life span.

. As founder of Health Evaluations , I initiated the first successful nationwide program using hair analysis to screen for toxic metals and trace minerals. Over the course of the program more than 13,000 individuals were screened for toxic metals. Health Evaluations became the largest nutritional consulting clinic in the San Francisco Bay Area at the time.

. Metabolic Technologies was a company I founded that subsequently developed one of the very first smoker's vitamins. This product was designed to provide smokers the nutrients lost from smoking.

Lifespan, LLC

In 1987, I founded Lifespan, my core company, specifically for the development of clinical anti-aging programs. At Lifespan, I developed clinical and life extending programs. I also served as a consulting resource to [medical] nutritional supplement companies. Lifespan was one of the first consulting centers to incorporate functional nutrition and functional testing.

Consulting for Individual Clients

. Nutritional support for people with health problems.

My strategy has been the use of a functional approach to assist people with a wide variety of illnesses including arthritis, cancer, chemical sensitivities, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, gastrointestinal problems, osteoporosis, PMS, mood, depression and anxiety and all the other mood issues, cardio and circulatory problems, cognitive functions and neurological problems.

. Performance . Good nutrition can support a number of important aspects of performance - energy, mental and physical performance, emotional stability and stress management. The clients I've worked with on performance issues have tended to carry a lot of responsibility and be under high stress - this means everyone from executives to mothers with young children. Most of these clients felt happy and excited about the professional challenges in their lives. However, the expenditures of energy and physical resources were such that they could see their performance slipping after a number of years. They also saw that they were expending so much of their personal energy on their profession that they didn't have much left over for their families, so their quality of life was suffering. Increasing their energy through better nutrition provided the support they needed to maintain their performance, manage stress, and cope better.

. Anti-aging. This group of clients has tended to be those who are generally healthy, with only minor physical problems. For these people, the primary interest is often maintaining peak performance and function for as long as possible in life. These clients typically have healthy lifestyles and satisfying lives. They seek nutritional support to proactively protect their health so that they can continue to maximize the richness and quality or their lives.

. Athletes. In my private practice as a consultant, I have provided nutritional consulting services to elite athletes in a number of sports, including professional tennis, marathon running, triathlons, body building and weight lifting. The goal with these athletes involved the development of advanced nutritional programs for both performance improvement and injury recovery. We achieved this without the use of steroids. I provided this type of nutritional consulting at Sport Tech, a modern health club environment, working with athletes on performance and injury recovery.

Lifespan's Professional Services

. As director of the Allergy Lab of Michael Rosenbaum, MD, I had the opportunity to work in a practice focused on environmental medicine and chronic fatigue treatment. Dr. Rosenbaum is an outstanding integrative physician and one of the pioneers of environmental medicine. It was there that I gained an appreciation for the enormous impact of food allergies on virtually every health problem and also as a major factor in aging.

. Consultant to Nutritional Product Manufacturers. Over the past 10 years I've also had the opportunity to serve as a consultant to several nutritional companies in a technical and marketing capacity, including Allergy Research Group , Vitamin Research Products , and Smart Basics.

. At Sol-Source Technologies , I served as a technical and marketing consultant. Sol-Source is the developer of an innovative sublingual product that provides growth hormone releasing factor (GHRF) in combination with human growth hormone.
